Music video: Filming

Image
We began filming on November 23, 2020. Before we could begin filming I had to walk to another actor's house that wasn't my partner. The actor and I walked to the park that was discussed and agreed on meeting to film, but it was unfortunately closed from what we saw. After that, we had to think of another way to film at a different park. Then, we remember there was a park at the other actor's house, so we walked all the way back. When we got to the park we had to think of different ways to film. As the park was much smaller than what we initially thought of. This made filming some angles difficult to capture. Once we began filming scene one we had Bethoven following him from behind as he walked. Trying to keep it for about five seconds. As we filmed the second and third clips we had to reposition. The lighting was constantly changing because of the trees and the cars that were constantly passing as we filmed. The fourth scene was when I was introduced as the bully in the fi...

Planning Storyboard for my Music Video

Image
1st Scene This first scene will be an introduction to the main character who is the protagonist in this film. This will be them walking by themselves in the park and will be filmed using tracking. 2nd Scene This scene will be used to set the mood of the film if the music has not done so already. The protagonist will be filmed with his back facing toward the camera on a set of swings by himself. This will be filmed using a long-shot 3rd Scene This will be a final introductory scene where the actor will be filmed sitting with their head down to show a discouraged type of expression. Here the audience will recognize a problem. This will be a handheld shot. 4th scene This will be an introduction to the bully, the antagonist, who will walk into the scene and will serve as a flashback from the perspective of the protagonist. This will be filmed using tracking. 5th Scene Here eye contact between the bully and the protagonist is established and a clear tension is made within the flashback...

planning for my music video

The song title that my partner and I are doing is 'losses' by Lil Tjay. Lil Tjay is a young rapper born in 2001. His real name is Tione Jayden Merritt. He has a record label to Columbia Records. As a rapper at a young age, we can relate to what is being said in his song 'losses'. As we all lose something in life and want to be an influence to those who also went through a loss. Want the people to know it is okay to talk about it.          The costumes that the actors will wear is some casual clothing. That being hoodies, jeans, joggers, sneakers, sandals, t-shirts, etc. Props that will be in the music video are phones, book bags, or something that helps convey a conflict for the protagonist. Storyboard: November 20 Filming: November 30 Filming : December 3rd Editing: December 7th Music video: December 8th CCR: December 11th The location of the video will switch between in an outside environment. Like the store, park, or somewhere w...

Research: music video convention

Image
My film will be based around Lil Tjay's latest song, losses. The song itself has a vibrant, steady beat complimented by Tjay's catchy vocals. Usually in music videos, especially one telling a story, there is a protagonist and an antagonist to represent the clash between the two and help deliver the message of song. In this case, the message is taking a loss and being able to bounce back harder than before.     Actors can range from one main protagonist fighting a problem to a multitude of people involved dancing and having fun depending on the song and director. Regardless of the amount of people, the theme of the video is always explicit and present.   Costumes in a music video really depend on the song. A hype summer song that focuses on parties and having a good time is likely to have people in swimwear, short pants, flip flops, and t-shirts on the other hand, a love song is likely to have two people with love interests dressed up in suits and dresses in a ...

Introduction to the Music Video Project

Image
In this music video project, I am working with Bethoven Valcourt. I choose to work with him because we have a good history. We worked together multiple times on past projects and have done pretty well. We worked together on the genre project and we got a good grade. I am also working with him because we like to plan together before we start rushing into things. Having an idea or more detailed plan about how would we do the project, so we won’t be lost or confused and manage to finish it in a more timely manner. He is also reliable, so one of us isn’t doing all the work and if one of us is slacking we tell each other. We also have a long history, so we have trust and each other. I am also able to meet up with him since we know each other’s location. The song we choose is “Losses” by lil Tjay. Bethoven came up with the song and introduced it to me and gave me ideas and why we should pick the song. We choose this song because in today’s world many people have gone through a type of l...

Creative Reflection

How does your product use or challenge conventions AND how does it represent social groups or issues?  My product uses the conventions I mentioned in an early blog. As I filmed the commercial I made sure to check in on my research and made sure that it matches them. As I said that they usually add PlayStation to clarify what they are advertising I made sure to do the same. It helps represent social groups because while using the PlayStation you can communicate with many other people and form relationships from it. It also represents issues because as they are playing the system they won't go outside and get face-to-face contact which could make them distant. How does your p roduct engage with audiences AND how would it be distributed as a real media text? This product engages with the audience because they themselves can physically play. They could get it and have fun to their hearts contempts. The product can also provide many opportunities for all ages. As an example, ...

The PlayStation

Image
This commercial project was one of the biggest film projects I've done. As I rewatched my commercial I saw many mistakes I would like to improve. As the speed of the commercial is too quick. I suspected it to be because the max amount of time was thirty seconds. If I were to make another commercial with a longer time limit I would be able to slow it down to regular speed. I could also be able to add more clips to be able to show off and explain more about the product to the watchers. My main goal in my commercial is to give a friendly atmosphere and give the watchers a motive to want to get a PlayStation. My production skills have greatly evolved since beginning this project. I know that I should have a more detailed plan for a film before putting it together. Starting with gain a better understanding by doing the research on the subject, and plan on what I should be doing in the commercial and my main goals about it. Then write a storyboard to show what I would like the final com...

editing

Image
On October 30 I began editing the clips i had together. When I began thinking about the time limit the commercial had to be I realized I may have to cut some of the clips out. Like the interviews and the transitioning from their words to them doing it. To begin with I started editing on an app on my phone. The app called Videoshop. This allowed me to add music and add all the clips together I put all the clips together to make sure I had enough time to meet the requirements of thirty seconds. When I made sure I had enough time I downloaded the clips and the clip I preedited to my loptop. I then trimmed and cut anything I didn't think was needed or was excess. After I finished the first draft of editing I saw I was low on time. This space allowed me to add more clips to show off the PlayStation. I continued editing and adding the finishing touches on the commercial on November 1st. I wasn't able to finish editing it on the 30th because I had to wait to film and get some clips fro...

Filming

Gathering the clips  I began filming on 10/27/20. On the 27th I brainstormed how I would manage to get everything I would need to complete my storyboard. Realizing that this is going to be a lot more difficult than I first believe gathering all the different videos and editing them together. On the 28th I began by searching and asking around to see if anyone had the PlayStation Pro or Slim. I have found some people that have a PlayStation pro and slim. To my luck, they all seem to be busy that day so I'm going to have to wait until tomorrow. 10/29/20 I am going back searching for people to send me videos of their PlayStation. To much prevail one of my friends finally sent me a picture of her PlayStation Slim. I save the video to my phone to save for later and searched around like for a pro. On October 30, 2020, I began to look around for clips of people having fun playing the game. I also manage to get the PlayStation Pro clip from an old friend now I can begin editing them togethe...
