Introduction to the Music Video Project

 In this music video project, I am working with Bethoven Valcourt. I choose to work with him because we have a good history. We worked together multiple times on past projects and have done pretty well. We worked together on the genre project and we got a good grade. I am also working with him because we like to plan together before we start rushing into things. Having an idea or more detailed plan about how would we do the project, so we won’t be lost or confused and manage to finish it in a more timely manner. He is also reliable, so one of us isn’t doing all the work and if one of us is slacking we tell each other. We also have a long history, so we have trust and each other. I am also able to meet up with him since we know each other’s location. The song we choose is “Losses” by lil Tjay. Bethoven came up with the song and introduced it to me and gave me ideas and why we should pick the song. We choose this song because in today’s world many people have gone through a type of loss. We believe that we will be able to convey the thoughts and messages that the person was trying to let the people know. Letting everyone know it is okay to talk about it and cry. It is a normal thing. Every song has a message but some don't realize it, so my partner and I will try and convey it in which the song could not. Through visual representation. Using the sound and video to support one another. Hopefully, it'll look good.

 When we were looking through our footage we realized that some of our outside scenes were a bit grey. All the clouds were blocking out the sunlight which caused us to try and use different filters to try and add more colors to the scene rather than letting it look bland and greyish. Another problem we saw/heard when we replayed our footage was the wind. The wind was blowing quite hard, hard enough that we could barely hear the actors speak. We had to reshoot those scenes because the other scenes became unusable. The cameraman had to film on the opposite side of where the wind was blowing to try and block out as much wind as possible. Another problem we faced was the cars and people. We were filming at a park so a lot of people were, so we tried to talk as loudly as possible to try and drown them out. Genre research Drama

  In this powerpoint, we were assigned to research a specific genre and analyze the specific conventions and to recognize what makes this genre different than others. To begin, in the drama genre, the different types of lighting used where low key lighting and high key lighting, usually to show the mood in the scene. Common angles included, but were not limited too, low angles, with common movement being reverse zoom, and tracking. Conventionally, costumes depended on the setting. While a drama filmed in the colonial period would likely depict women with dresses while a more modern drama would likely depict women with jeans and a tee. Genre Discussion

 For the past couple of days, my partner and I have been discussing what genre should we do. We couldn't choose right away at first because we had to discuss the pros and the cons of each genre. We had to choose out of thriller, drama, and action. (3) The first genre we had was the drama genre. The drama has  stories with high stakes and a lot of conflicts. They're plot-driven and demand that every character and scene move the story forward. We  both worked on this genre when we had the genre project, so we both had some knowledge about it. The pros of this genre are that we had the basics of it down, so the research could be kept to a minimum. This genre best fits the pitch that we choose in our earlier discussion. The cons of this genre are that some of the common things found in drama we might not be able to recreate. Things like costumes or have makeup.
