Title research: Little America

Image
What titles are displayed during the opening sequence? As the movie begins the audience is introduced to the name of the production company, which is Columbia Pictures. Which is  an American film studio and production company that is a member of the Sony Pictures Motion Picture Group. Soon after the production title screen disappears it says " A Di Novi  Picture Production". After that title dissipates it gives the names of who produced the movie and then presents the name of the film. What images are prioritized in its opening scenes? The images that were prioritized within the opening scenes were a shape hard to explain. The shape was curved and swerved, and was the shape used to present the title of the film. After this, there was a picture of a book or script shape item in the background. What connotations do these images carry? The connotations of the image of the shape are used to signify the movie. As it is unique so it symbolizes the movie, so the audience has s...

Title research Anatomy of a murder

Image
What titles are displayed during the opening sequence? The watchers are introduced with Ms. Jenny Joseph  with the word "Columba" in large and bold text behind it. This is the studio that produced this film and wants it to be known, so these are the first titles that are seen. As the first title fades it switches to a grey background with the words of the director. Introducing Otto Preminger as the director. After the director as mentioned, they begin covering the text with body parts. As the body parts cover the screen the title of the film comes on top of it. To grab the watcher's attention with the visual interpretation of what the movie is about once more before the movie starts. As well as the body parts coming introducing the cast of the film and the people who worked on the film on the limbs or next to them.   What Images are prioritized in its opening scenes? The images that were prioritized in the opening scenes were the titles. They showed the actors and t...

Art of the title website

Image
When I first opened this wed page, I was immediately greeted with a variety of different title fonts as it seems to be for different subjects. One thing in particular is the color choice/ font type for each genre of film. Horror, or scary films, for example are usually black and white with a bold text while comedic films are usually in a wacky font with vibrant colors. I learned that title sequences give a great general idea to the mood of the film, those with color are likely to be fast paced and ecstatic while those with generally less color are more gradual. Additionally, there is some kind of theme, for example, a film based around a snow storm would probably have a rugged white font similar to ice and have a snowy background. Finally,  the title sequences typically have corresponding music to the feel of the sequence, wether it be fast, slow, comedic or horrific. Moreover, these title sequences are important because they engage the audience to continue watching. They al...

Watch the Titles Website

Image
The site I am looking at is called "Watch the Titles!". I am looking at this site to try and gain a better understanding of films, and what it takes to make and produce one. As I click throughout the website I have seen multiple interviews about the different jobs that went into films. Some jobs I've found were a title designer, illustrator, title sequence, and motion design. As I looked further into the title designer role I manage to find Filmography. Which is a full-service production studio specializing in television and film. This company could help influence us in the final project by giving us ideas about how to make our video more visually pleasing. As the company deals with animations and visual effects. As I also did more research on the illustrators I learn that they play a huge part in the development of a film. As I did my research I realized I wouldn't be able to use much of this on my own project, but it did help to set up how I should start planning ...

As he trains under his new instructor he learns karate and learns to defend himself and others. The sensei begins to see Dre as his son. (10) An element we want to convey in our final project that is conveyed in this movie is the story. In this movie, the stories perfectly line together throughout the whole showing. It was easy to comprehend and made it more en...

Genre research: kicks (2016)

Image
Kicks is a dramatized adventure that involves a protagonist, Brandon. Brandon is a relatively poor adolescent who is constantly being picked on by his environment, including his friends and peers in school  based on his worn out attire, mainly his "kicks" or shoes. However, when Brandon gets his hands on a new pair of shoes he expects for his problems to go away, however they have just begun as a local hood member steals them from him. Now he and his friends are on a mission to retrieve his kicks though a dangerous suburban neighborhood.  This project contains suspense, not one time did I know what was going to happen next. For example, in the scene were Brandon was returning home, there was no indication that he was going to get assaulted for his shoes other than a group of men following him. Moreover, Brandon has to constantly stay on his toes, while he is in the gang-affiliated neighborhood as he does not want to be robbed or even killed. It also had the constant low...

Genre research: The Hate U Give

Image
The Hate U Give was a movie that came out October 19, 2018. Directed by George Tillman. This movie is about the life of a girl name Starr Charter. She has to switch between two different lifestyles. One being a poor mostly black neighborhood, and the other is a majority white wealthy prep school. As she tries to manage the balance between how she should act between these two lives this balance is interrupted by the shooting of her childhood best friend that she witnessed by a cop. She then has to decided I who she wants to be. She has to find her voice to speak up and no longer hide the way she is, and give others the confidence to do so as well. An element I want to convey in my final project that’s in this movie is to convey the emotion of each character, and to have the watcher connect to the characters. In this movie it caused many to cry or feel some type of heavy emotion. Rather it be hatred, love, or sadness. I wish to have someone of the same impact to an extent of the amo...

Genre Discussion

Image
For the past couple of days, my partner and I have been discussing what genre should we do. We couldn't choose right away at first because we had to discuss the pros and the cons of each genre. We had to choose out of thriller, drama, and action. (3) The first genre we had was the drama genre. The drama has  stories with high stakes and a lot of conflicts. They're plot-driven and demand that every character and scene move the story forward. We  both worked on this genre when we had the genre project, so we both had some knowledge about it. The pros of this genre are that we had the basics of it down, so the research could be kept to a minimum. This genre best fits the pitch that we choose in our earlier discussion. The cons of this genre are that some of the common things found in drama we might not be able to recreate. Things like costumes or have makeup. Other than the smaller details drama seem like the best choice out of the three. (8) The second genre we discussed w...

Genre research Drama

Image
In this powerpoint, we were assigned to research a specific genre and analyze the specific conventions and to recognize what makes this genre different than others. To begin, in the drama genre, the different types of lighting used where low key lighting and high key lighting, usually to show the mood in the scene. Common angles included, but were not limited too, low angles, with common movement being reverse zoom, and tracking. Conventionally, costumes depended on the setting. While a drama filmed in the colonial period would likely depict women with dresses while a more modern drama would likely depict women with jeans and a tee. Elements of drama included suspense, foreshadowing and a consistent theme.    Finally, we researched that dramas usually have some type of score, diegetic, non-diegetic, and incidental music.  What we realized when researching drama is the reoccurring themes which makes the plot more predictable and repetitive however, dramas have varie...

Title research Creed

Image
What titles are displayed during the opening sequence? The audience is met with a bold box-like print with the text of " Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer pictures" and "Warner Bros Pictures". These are the producers of the film and are the first titles seen. Soon after, the text fades to reveal another text that says " In Association with New Line Cinema". Finally, the text "Creed" appears in all caps bigger and bolder than the rest of the previous text. What Images are prioritized in its opening scenes? The audience is met with an actor who plays the younger version of Adonis Creed, the protagonist in the film. He has a bruise on his left cheek, a black eye, and a busted lip. Moreover, he says the words "what was his name" more than likely referring to his father, a well known boxer. Finally, we see him in some sort of confinement, more than likely a jailhouse as he is known to be a trouble maker later in the film.  Soon after, we see the adult v...

Our pitch

Image
As we discuss what our pitch would be we ran into a block. We couldn't think of any pitches that were original, and something we can use without having to buy many things. Our first pitch was a kid that helped everyone but once they needed something no one was there to help. It took some time to think of the second pitch since nothing was coming into mind. It took some time but then we finally came up with the second pitch. This pitch is about a person who has to manage a job, school, and sport but slowly being consumed by stress, depression, and anxiety. The second pitch is the one we made the decision to go with.  The first pitch was pitched by my partner. We didn't choose this pitch because I was thinking it was too similar to our previous projects. I wanted something more original, something different from what we created before. He agreed. We decided on the second pitch because it something relatable. Something that the youth, people we are close to, and us can relate to. ...

Starting the final task

Image
My name is Cleveland Williams and this is the beginning of the end. I have been a decent fan of filming when I was younger. I was always intrigued with the behind the scene of filming. The how to. Of how they manage to make the watchers feel what they do with just a bit of second. The multiple takes and the lighting. The time and effort of producing a storyboard, so when we were told to make a pitch I was excited.  In this final task for Aice Media pitching project, I am working with Bethoven Valcourt. I choose to work with him again because we have worked continuously together and produced decent results. We have worked together on numerous assignments in the past projects and have done pretty well. We worked together on the genre and music video project and we produced good products. We also together because we like to plan together and have a layout of what we plan to do before we start rushing into things. Having an idea or more detailed plan about how would we do the project. ...
