Planning: Refilm

Image
As we begin wrapping up the last of our film. We had to look through all our footage. We checked for any errors or things we could've improved. We found some mistakes, so we tried to refilm it to match up with the film.  We searched through all the takes we took of each scene and sent them into one specific place. We did this so we both could have access to our films if any of us need them. We called each other so that we can go through the videos together. We discussed what videos should we keep and which ones we should refilm. The others we believe we didn't need to include, so we delete them. We then sent the videos again in a separate group chat. After this, we went back to filming. We refilmed scenes three, six, eight, and ten. For scene three I thought the audio was a bit mumble and we couldn't hear the characters too well. We refilmed and tried to get the microphone closer to pick up the character voices much clearer than what we had beforehand. For scene six my part...

Working

Image
After we finished filming the scene when he is talking to his find about the practice and the big game the next day. The main character gets a call from his boss from work, and the boss asks him can he come in. He tries to tell them that he's a little busy. Before he could finish speaking he is cut off and begged to come in. As he wants to please everyone to the best of his ability he finally gives in.  During these scenes, we get to see more of the character's attitude. As we have seen in the basketball scene and in this scene the main character has a very hard time saying "no" or speaking up for himself. Even though it may affect him and some ways. As the basketball may inflict how good his work will come out for class. Also, how going to work may inflict how long he can practice. All of these activities will eventually catch up to him and begin to wear him down.  There were a few problems when we were working on the scene. One of the problems was how were we going...

The first scenes

Image
We began filming the first few scenes for our films yesterday. These few scenes are very important because they will be giving our audience a good idea of how the main character acts in school. The type of person he is and how responsible and resourceful he could be. These scenes are revolved around the average student's day after the start of covid. This is why the scene starts with an alarm to alert him to go into his virtual classroom. We tried to make it as realistic as possible. We have to fake a zoom call meeting and make all our actors join. We also have to get the lighting correct because some of us primarily use LED lights and that doesn't provide us with the correct amount of lighting for the film. The different angles were also challenging for us to complete. Being that we have to make the camera angles look natural. It should look as if the sun just came up so we have to try to either get the shot in the morning or try to recreate the lighting in a different way. A...

The Athlete

Image
We began recording our next scene which evolves sports. As we try to transition from the main character's school life to him practicing a sport to continue the story. We try to make it seem as smooth and nonforced as possible. As we have the main character talking to one of his friends talk about the practice after school. As they know they are about to face-off between their rival school.  As they continued to talk we see that the main character is choosing his schoolwork before his personal life. As Mj tries to convince the main character to come to practice because he is the "star player". We used this to try and show what kind of peer pressure a teenager can go through. As we make him choose between getting a good grade or practicing. He tries t make time for both. Stating that he'll just finish the work before practice.  The scene as a whole is supposed to represent the same as the first scene. The innocence of someone who just started his new life in high schoo...

Beginning Scenes

Image
My partner and I began filming on the scheduled date. We tried to begin filming beforehand, but then we had to worry about our testing, school, and personal business. As seen in the storyboard the first couple of scenes takes place in my room, so I called it up and made it presentable for the film. I had to find a place to put the camera so that it would be able to capture the whole scene. The scene including me, my phone, and my computer. This scene is supposed to be of the main character waking up ad getting prepared for school.  As we continued filming we had to discuss what are the extra characters going to do. My partner asked to make sure my room was spot clean during filming so that we can emphasize a point that the watchers will later see in the project. The main character is supposed to be seen as a happy go-getter. As he tries to answer the teachers' questions when no one else will respond to them.  Showing the character this happy and energetic and then slowly...

Scene 1:  Alarm goes off No Dialogue  Scene 2:  No Dialogue Scene 3: Teacher: “ Can anyone tell me why the Farmers had conflicts with the railroads?” No Dialogue  Cleveland: *sighs* “Because the railroads, AKA the means of transporting the goods the farmers grew, were charging farmers more money to transport crops than it originally should be. This eventually led to the granger movement, a series of protests that fought against the rail monopolies of the midwest.” Teacher: “Thank you AGAIN Cleveland for always answering the questions, you’ve won 5 points for participation.”  Scene 4 Teacher: “Alright class that sounds like the bell, and don't forget your Industrial Revolution project is due tonight and for those who don't remember. Oh and don't forget, this is worth 100 points so unless you want to fail my class, I suggest you get started!”  Cleveland: Heh, no biggie Scene 5 Mj: Yo, you ready for practice? Heard Coach Patrick is havin’ us run plays a...

Planning blog: Title

Image
The opening credits of our film will appear in a century gothic that appears to type in the middle of the screen.  Working Title: The title of this film is likely to be "the understanding"  It will be typed in the same font as the other titles Titles will all be typed on the screen. They will come on as being types and slowly disappear with a transition. Titles will disappear after two or three seconds
