The Athlete
We began recording our next scene which evolves sports. As we try to transition from the main character's school life to him practicing a sport to continue the story. We try to make it seem as smooth and nonforced as possible. As we have the main character talking to one of his friends talk about the practice after school. As they know they are about to face-off between their rival school.
As they continued to talk we see that the main character is choosing his schoolwork before his personal life. As Mj tries to convince the main character to come to practice because he is the "star player". We used this to try and show what kind of peer pressure a teenager can go through. As we make him choose between getting a good grade or practicing. He tries t make time for both. Stating that he'll just finish the work before practice.
The scene as a whole is supposed to represent the same as the first scene. The innocence of someone who just started his new life in high school not knowing the stress and demotion each thing takes. As you can't slack off on one without it somehow affecting the other. The pitch is that the main character is supposed to be overwhelmed by schoolwork, sports, and his job. His emotions over trying to balance all of this begin to become too much for him with depression and anxiety.
The scene helps explain the starting of the anxiety. The anxiety of having to be the "star player" during this game. He has to make sure he is on his best for the game in order to not let everyone down. The stress of having all the expectations of everyone he knows. As the story continues the more is added to it.
