CCR: Music Video

1. How does your product use or challenge convention and how does it represent social groups or issues?         Bethoven and I product use the convention of how music videos typically tell a story within the music and the video helps express the lyrics in a way that others may understand. Usually having a protagonist facing some kind of hardship. Hardships such as a break-up, a loss of a loved one, or depression. While the protagonist wasn't always like that the antagonist is shown and explains how did the protagonist end up becoming this way. The antagonist could be an event that happened or a person that did something to the protagonist. The music video help deliver the message to all who watch it. Bethoven and I tried our best to use the conventions to help produce our video.           Our product represents social groups and issues because we tried to use a common issue for many different groups of people. We choose to base our ...

Editing the music video

Image
On December 5, 2020, Bethoven and I began editing our video. We first discussed how we were going to edit. Realizing we still both have to write the editing blog, so we had to ensure that we both do enough to write about. Due to Bethoven having all the videos we had to find a way to transfer all the videos to me. He tried to email me all the video clips but was unable to. All of the clips added up to too much storage to be sent through an email, so we had to find another way to share the videos. The next thing we tried was for both of us to be within a drive. It worked and I downloaded all of the videos to my laptop.  We continued the editing on December 6, 2020. I took the first part of our editing processes. I put all the videos together in the editing software and they all came out to over two minutes, so I knew I had my work cut out for me. I first started by putting all the videos in order according to the storyboard we created. After they all were sorted out I started t...

Filming Take 2

Image
This is to further explain our filming procedure.  To further explain the second scene we had to be careful. This is because in the scene the swingset was very old and unsturdy, so we kept rocking back and forth. We had to make sure that the actor was safe and secure and the set didn’t collapse on us. We managed to get about 5 seconds on the swing set which was all we needed to fill up the space in the video.  The third scene we had to discuss where were we going to film. We had to insure that the place could be seen by the pedestrian and the bully. Well keeping it partially true to what was drawn on the storyboard, so we decided to do it in the parking lot. I explained the difficulty filming the sixth scene, but there was also complications on the fall. The complications were that we had to think about the future scenes and as I mentioned making sure he wasn’t injured. We had him pushed out of frame so the viewers could no longer see him which helped solved all our prob...

Music video: Filming

Image
We began filming on November 23, 2020. Before we could begin filming I had to walk to another actor's house that wasn't my partner. The actor and I walked to the park that was discussed and agreed on meeting to film, but it was unfortunately closed from what we saw. After that, we had to think of another way to film at a different park. Then, we remember there was a park at the other actor's house, so we walked all the way back. When we got to the park we had to think of different ways to film. As the park was much smaller than what we initially thought of. This made filming some angles difficult to capture. Once we began filming scene one we had Bethoven following him from behind as he walked. Trying to keep it for about five seconds. As we filmed the second and third clips we had to reposition. The lighting was constantly changing because of the trees and the cars that were constantly passing as we filmed. The fourth scene was when I was introduced as the bully in the fi...

Planning Storyboard for my Music Video

Image
1st Scene This first scene will be an introduction to the main character who is the protagonist in this film. This will be them walking by themselves in the park and will be filmed using tracking. 2nd Scene This scene will be used to set the mood of the film if the music has not done so already. The protagonist will be filmed with his back facing toward the camera on a set of swings by himself. This will be filmed using a long-shot 3rd Scene This will be a final introductory scene where the actor will be filmed sitting with their head down to show a discouraged type of expression. Here the audience will recognize a problem. This will be a handheld shot. 4th scene This will be an introduction to the bully, the antagonist, who will walk into the scene and will serve as a flashback from the perspective of the protagonist. This will be filmed using tracking. 5th Scene Here eye contact between the bully and the protagonist is established and a clear tension is made within the flashback...

planning for my music video

The song title that my partner and I are doing is 'losses' by Lil Tjay. Lil Tjay is a young rapper born in 2001. His real name is Tione Jayden Merritt. He has a record label to Columbia Records. As a rapper at a young age, we can relate to what is being said in his song 'losses'. As we all lose something in life and want to be an influence to those who also went through a loss. Want the people to know it is okay to talk about it.          The costumes that the actors will wear is some casual clothing. That being hoodies, jeans, joggers, sneakers, sandals, t-shirts, etc. Props that will be in the music video are phones, book bags, or something that helps convey a conflict for the protagonist. Storyboard: November 20 Filming: November 30 Filming : December 3rd Editing: December 7th Music video: December 8th CCR: December 11th The location of the video will switch between in an outside environment. Like the store, park, or somewhere w...
